Cards: Declined deposits and 3D Secure

Card companies have implemented a security protocol called 3D Secure and its authentication process has to be completed successfully for transactions to be approved.

If you have never made a purchase online using 3D Secure, you will be redirected to your card issuer's secure website to verify some personal details and select a password.

If you have used 3D Secure before, you will be asked to submit your 3D Secure password. If you cannot remember it, you will need to contact your bank.

3D Secure will operate in most browsers; however, we suggest setting Internet Explorer as your default browser whenever possible.

We also recommend turning off all pop-up blockers as they may interfere with the 3D Secure process. To do so on a mobile device:

  • Android:
    1. Open your internet browser.
    2. Click the three-dot menu icon at the top right corner.
    3. Select Settings → Advanced → Site Settings
    4. Un-tick the Block pop-ups option.
  • iOS:
    1. From the Home screen, go to Settings.
    2. Scroll to Safari and turn off the Block Pop-ups' option.
